Adam Proteau: Muller is back with Habs, but that won't matter much if Subban is traded Former Canadiens captain Kirk Muller is returning to Montreal as an associate coach, leading some to speculate he'll eventually replace head coach Michel Therrien this coming season. But it doesn't matter who is behind their bench this year – if GM Marc Bergevin shocks the NHL and trades star defenseman P.K. Subban, the Habs are likely to face a tough and painful road ahead.

First.

Not a Subban fan and hate his contract. But as an Edmonton fan he would fill our biggest need well.

Hall, Yakipov, and Reinhart for Subban with 1 mill retained.

Wouldn't trade Subban either, but if it had to be Edmonton? Give us Hall, the 4th overall, and a later round pick. You get Subby and a 2nd rounder + Eller.

Hall and EDM 1st
for
PK and MTL 1st

hmm. Wouldn't u rather have a Dman than a W?

Only issue is PK's contract. I think MTL would love to add Dubois. But as stated in the article, you fix 1 need and create another. Not sure MTL can afford to make this move. Do people in MTL really wanna trade PK? Or is this all stemming from the coach? Who is much more easily replaced (and has been before).

How about Nugent-Hopkins, Yakupov, Reihnart and 4th pick for Subban and Eller?

Trading Subban would only create a massive hole in the lineup. These type of moves rarely benefit the team trading the star and usually sets the club back. Canadiens and its fanbase have lived this firsthand with the departure of Patrick Roy that set the team back at least a decade. If the Habs trade Subban for Hall and EDM 4th overall they need to go hard after Yandle this summer to ensure a PP quaterback.

I believe Edmonton is going to get a #1 D and Chiarelli is going to get a very good one to match up with the future (McDavid). Except for McDavid, I believe Chiarelli is prepared to pay the price to get one of the top Dmen in the league. I think he will succeed. But, I don't think Chiarelli will need to overpay. For example, if he can get one of the top 5 (Doughty, Keith, Karlsson, Burns or Ekman-Larsson) he would likely offer 3 very strong pieces, including the most desired piece which would be Draisaitl.

Any team that is really hard against the cap would drool over the idea of being able to deal a huge cap hit for Draisaitl ($925k), Nurse ($850k) and the #4 pick ($0k). If I am Montreal and could get that deal for Subban...where do I sign? But, I think Chiarelli does better than Subban and I think the Oil become instant contenders.

Trade PK ???? Ducks should be lining up w/ offer - I would be stunned if Habs ever seriously consider it - ... But stranger things have happened -

I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone that would take that deal for Subban.

And i think you are insane if you actually believe the oilers will acquire a D that is better than subban this year.

With the dynamic duo of Bergevin and Therrien, anything is possible. The fact that Bergevin would even consider trading PK because Therrien doesn't like him is an absolute joke. He picks his lover MT instead of a franchise defenseman. They both need to be canned. We could of got Boucher as head coach AND Muller as an assistant if Bergevin had a brain, that would have been sweet.

If there's one forwards that's probably untouchable on Edm, its probably Draisaitl. He has the size, truculence and puts up the points. That ELC is a very nice thing to trade away

for (frank) sakes... PK is not getting traded. It just makes no sense, as without him our D is TERRIBLE. We'd have an aged Markov, Emelin who is garbage, Petry who is ok, Beaulieu who is a decent prospect but not a replacement... and what?

if PK is traded, it's not going to be to make the hockey team better. it's going to be because Marc Bergevin and Michel Therrien don't want him around.

First: PK Subban is going nowhere, put this in your head.
Second: Habs made a big move to bring back Kirk Muller behind the bench, Habs will again, finish first in the East, take a screenshot and thank me next spring for that.

Muller is a huge move to be honest.
He will hopefully do wonders for the power play as he did in the past.

Ottawa on the other hand is going to be terrible.

You aInt getting Hall and the 1st for Subban...if the Oilers floated that out there ,any GM's would consider moving their top defender, some are even better than PK IMO.
